Build Relationships and Be a Blessing to Others this Christmas Season

The Christmas season is a great time to connect with friends and neighbors. There are lots of fun activities you can host in your home or do around town. It is also a season in which people are interested in blessing others. There are simple ways you can join them in caring for others this Christmas season.

Read through the list below as a family or missional community and pick some ways you will celebrate with others this Christmas.

In Your Home

Hot Chocolate Buffet

Host a neighborhood get-together with a Hot Chocolate Buffet. Include lots of toppings like crushed candy canes, whipped cream and chocolate chips. This is a great opportunity to build community.

Operation Christmas Child

Invite neighbors to join you in building shoeboxes for Operation Christmas child. Many of the items can be purchased at the dollar store. 

Gingerbread House Building

Build Gingerbread houses with your kids’ friends from school. Inexpensive kits are often available at Target and Costco.

Christmas Movie Night

Host a Christmas movie night with classics like Its a Wonderful Life, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, or Christmas Vacation.

Homeless Blessing Bags

Invite friends to bring supplies like socks, non-perishable food, hand wipes, toiletries, and gift cards. Compile them in ziplock bags and deliver them together.

Around Town

Danville Tree Lighting

Invite neighbors to usher in the season with you at the Danville Tree Lighting. You can walk around town afterward with a warm drink.

Enjoy the music and festivities at the Holiday Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting in Walnut Creek.

Christmas Lights

Fill some mugs with hot cider and view the Best Christmas Lights in Danville

Ice Skating

Bundle up and hit the outdoor ice skating rink in Walnut Creek with some of your friends.

Cut Down Your Christmas Tree

Go on a Christmas adventure with friends by cutting down your own Christmas tree. You can make a day of it by grabbing lunch at a restaurant or brewery near Petaluma.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Invite friends and neighbors to the Christmas Candlelight Service at Soma. Whether or not they go to a church in Danville or a church in walnut creek, most are interested in going to a Christmas Eve candlelight service.

A Christmas Carol

Take the family to see A Christmas Carol at the Lesher Theater in Walnut Creek.
